                                                                                                        FEBRUARY 2012

   ****************************************************************************************************************

                                                                                                      FROM  JOHN TROY

Dear Residents and Owners,

Welcome to February, the most abrupt month containing some of the shortest and coldest days of the year. As such, February has been dismissed as substandard and riddled by history. Do you know that Julius Caesar gave February an extra day but his jealous heir, Augustus, took it away? Thus, poor February remains with an unstable 28 day total until leap year periodically adds to its shrunken number. February is consequently characterized as unpredictable and even whimsical. Despite all of this or because of it, February includes Saint Valentine's Day, a day that celebrates love and affection. Maybe Groundhog Day is more appropriate to this month. Perhaps President's Day adds some dignity. In any case, this is a good month to reflect, to stay warm, and hope that our snowfalls are minimal. Before too long, February will depart and the aspirations of springtime will be near.

As many know, the small card room in the Clubhouse has been refinished by the same volunteers and maintenance staffers who have already done over the Party Room and the Awards Room.

Optimum has installed a new telephone in place of the old one located in the Clubhouse Lobby. If you need to call this location, the phone number is (732) 409-5113

As required by applicable fire codes, the draperies on the stage of the Ballroom were treated with an approved flame retardant which is guaranteed for three years.

Estimates for the repair of damaged windows in the Clubhouse have been received and reviewed.

Although this past year has seen the completion of urgent, major repairs and necessary improvements, we still need to work on smaller, quality-of-life issues in our community. Covered Bridge now employs two landscape maintenance companies to remove snow. They promise to double our snow removal capabilities. We hope to see an improvement in lawn maintenance also. The Board is awaiting the opportunity to replant grass, shrubs, and manageable trees, as well as to address some overdue concerns about roof repairs, exterior lighting, sidewalks and curb cuts, parking lot resurfacing, and drainage issues. We hope to improve on the provision of regular services, and expect to be ready for unexpected surprises.

Improve your life and the lives of others: Volunteer.
