JOHN TROY was overwhelmingly elected to the Board of Trustees by 324 votes out of 438 votes cast. When I interviewed John to write his Bio for THE GUARDIAN magazine, he immediately begged me to "Please make it short and simple!" That is the personality of this successful, shy and unassuming "gentleman and scholar," in every sense of the word.
I'd like to begin by telling you a little story John told me that I personally believe relates to WHO he is and WHAT he is: John was born in St. John's Hospital in Brooklyn where he suffered a near-fatal attack of Infant Pneumonia. The hospital staff miraculously pulled him through and his grateful parents named the baby "JOHN" after the hospital in appreciation. Another side-effect of that occurrence was John's belief that this was the start of his life-long love of life and challenge.
JOHN TROY is married to his devoted and supportive wife, Patricia, who he claims is a full-time housewife, yet he also lists her as being an Interior Designer, experienced insurance agent and accountant. They have three daughters, Jessica, 15; Cassidy, 14 and Rebecca, 9, who John proudly states are "great girls" and excellent students.
John is a graduate of York College where he earned a B. A. degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. He is also a graduate of Brooklyn College with an M.S. Degree in Exercise Physiology. John is presently a teacher in New York City specializing in Engish and Science. He is proud of his current status as one of the most effective instructors, based on Citywide standardized test scores. John not only produces the highest ratings in his present school, but is credited with promoting the highest student achievement results. He further holds the honor of being nominated for the "Teacher Of The Year" award.
As well as holding multiple teaching licenses, John is also a licensed contractor, realtor and owner of a home improvement company. This multi-talented entrepeneur started investing in real estate after he purchased his first house and small apartment buildings in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Thirty-five years now, he continues investing in New Jersey properties and improving his individual and multiple units.
Fortunately for us, John has a million dollar investment in Covered Bridge with his purchase and management of ten units here. We now have elected a new member to the Board of Trustees who brings many years of commercial business experience to the table. John will save our maintenance dollars by an inside understanding of the job requested and the labor required. His expertise, knowledge and experience will add to the future growth, prosperity and the betterment of our community
