"THE TIMES THEY ARE A' CHANGING"
July 2009

By Sally Herman
This quote applies to the entertainment committee that has been booking shows for Covered Bridge. Since the beginning. Starting February 2010, all entertainment will be in conjunction with the International Dinners, and fall under the purview of the House and Recreation Committee with Paul Profetta as liaison Trustee. The entertainment committee will no longer exist. Early in my tenure as Trustee I suggested matching the dinners with guest stars booked by the entertainment committee. John Malanka, our in house chef, thought this was a great idea and proceeded to run with it. Every dinner that had entertainment was a huge success. The shows without the dinners didn't fare that well. The large turnout for the dinners would enable us to hire better more prestigious acts.
However, the show in June, featuring Jerry Castaldo, was one not to be missed, although many did. He was one of the best entertainers we have had. Jerry entertained our small audience as if it was a packed room, and got (almost) everyone up to participate in some fun. Yes, if you were not there, you missed an outstanding show.
We hope you will come and enjoy the last big name show in July when we will have John Timpanelli entertain us. There will be a DJ before this act to get you up and on the floor.
In August, we will be entertained by a talented DJ, Joe Pesce, allowing those that want t9 dance an opportunity to do so. This is a two hour show for the low admission price of$5.00.
We have arranged for the musical "A Christmas Carol, The Musical" to be presented on Dec 6, and sometime this summer it should be finalized. This is a daytime, one hour show, and we encourage you to bring your grandchildren (who will be admitted rree.) One of them will be selected by the performers to play Tiny. Tim. John Malanka is working on combining the Hanukkah celebration and this play for an extraordinary community party.
On New Years Eve, The Roustabouts, a group that entertained us so well in the summer of 2008, will round out the entertainment for the year 2009.
