FRANK SINATRA LIVES IN COVERED BRIDGE!

What a fantastic evening! At 7p.m., the Melody Men, in their inimitable style got so many of us up a dancing that the dance floor looked crowded. Not looked, but was crowded. They sang and played the music we all loved until 8:45.

What happened next was miraculous. Who'd believe that the voice of Frank Sinatra could emanate ITom the throat of Jonni Drue? He had us believing that Frankie himself was reborn and on our stage. Many got up to dance while he sang Fly Me to the Moon, and other romantic melodies. We were enraptured when he sang New York, New York and I Did It My Way. As an encore he sang three or four more songs and got a standing ovation when he ended his act. Jonni captivated the audience. Usually people start leaving the ballroom before 10, but they were still glued to their seats at 10:20. When I asked him what his fee was for the extra time, he said he enjoyed singing to our audience so much, and was so happy to be performing for us, that there was no charge. (I had told him earlier that I would pick up the difference if extra time were used, since his rates were based on time.)

47 people bought their tickets at the door. It would be so helpful if you would buy your tickets in advance, giving you greater seat selection and avoiding the need to wait on line. I have set a policy whereby if you buy a ticket in advance and find that you cannot make that performance, just present your ticket at the next show and it will be honored.

Without any notice, our crew. of volunteers is always there setting out enough coffee and deserts for the crowd. Jackie-----you and your crew are terrific. And what would I do without Estelle Freehoff, who was there helping Sid and I to set up the tables and sell tickets?

                 ALMOST DANCING IN THE STREETS

                                      by Carolee A. Trifon

For those of you residents that did not join us for our Labor Day, end of season, no more pool, no more hot dogs, party, you missed a great one! The weather could have not been better, the atmosphere perfect, food was great, people were happy but the clincher, the icing in our Labor Day Cake, was the music. Five guys took all of us back to our pedal pushers and pony tail days and even saddle shoes and curfews. Those who were glued to their seats were clapping and swaying. Those of us who were glued to the dance floor---well, the glue did not work, not at all! I do believe the crew that put this one together should get an award for Best Party of 2008! Residents of Covered Bridge, it was a great year at poolside and we can only hope to do better next year. Thanks for all your help and participation and none of this would be the great success - that is without YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And don't you forget it! See you on the dance floor

next time. '
